Just checking in -- finally!

Sorry for the week or more off from the blog. But, what this does is accentuate what my problem with dieting and healthy living stems from -- life is too busy. As long as things are moving along nice and slow, everything is fine. However, as soon as I get off base because of deadlines, etc., I have a very difficult time maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

So, there was my excuse and here is my update ....

1. Water intake has been good on most days, but on the very busiest days -- forget it. I don't even get one glass in. What works best for me is to put three water bottles on my desk each morning and then make sure that I have two down by lunchtime. If I don't do that, I won't meet my quota. I don't drink much in the evening at all and I know that I should balance it out throughout the day. I just asked DII to go get me the three bottles for today, so late start, but I will try to catch up.
2. I am not dieting, per se yet. However, I am watching more closely what I am eating. I can't wait for nice warm weather so that I crave salads and cold things. My problem is that I work in my basement and it is always so cold down here so I only crave warm foods and it seems like the cold foods are the healthiest. Not sure how to combat that, though.
3. Exercise -- non-existent, but can't wait for beautiful spring weather to start riding my bike with Durrell.

So, as you can see, I am moving a lot slower than the rest of you, but i am ready to climb on board and join you shortly! We are planting a veggie garden soon and so that should help with the intake of fresh veggies. And, we are planting fruit trees this spring so in a couple of years we will also have fresh fruit to harvest. YIPPEE!

I just wanted to say I am so proud of all of you for being so diligent. This is why I haven't given up yet -- to see the progress that you are making helps me to keep moving.... and not going back to old habits.

Thank you! Also, I was wondering, Katie, if there is a way to only get the posts that people write once/day so that I don't get bombarded with so many posts throughout the day. Don't get me wrong -- I love them, but i have such a hard time ignoring them and so I don't work as much as I should. Just an idea, at least for me....

DRINK THAT WATER!!!!! Here's to a great week for all!

Susan

Hi Aunt Sue, nice to see you back again!

I know that I enabled the emails when a comment and a post is made, but for the life of me I can't find it in the settings now! I will look more later today and tonight and try to see how to change it. Currently, I have it set so whenever someone leaves a comment or a post, it emails all of us. You can do one of three things:

1. Don't get emailed at all and have to log on to the blog in order to see the posts and comments

2. Get emailed only when either a post or a comment is made (you can choose one or the other)

3. Get emails when all posts and comments are made

If you want to change it so you just log on to the site to view everything, let me know and when I find out how to disable your email address, I will do that. If you want just the posts (would take away most of the emails) then I can just disable the comment email notifications.

Let me know what you would like to do!

It's glad to have you back!

I would like to ask that my notifications stay the same....I really need the help during the day to remind me of what I need to do. I was even thinkiing that I might drink a bottle of water each hour that someone posts or comments, since the posts seem to come at different times of the day. By the way, I went to a gardening seminar on Saturday and was worried about drinks and food, but they had ample drinks (I stuck with the water) and for breakfast I was able to eat fruit and a bran muffin. For lunch I ate grilled chicken and grilled veggies, but I cheated a bit and allowed myself a piece of a brownie. The kids down the street brouht me down Easter cookies yesterday, so I am going to parcel them out as best I can. No more weight loss, which is really disappointing, but I still hope to drop the other two pounds before I leave for Vegas on Saturday.

Hopefully I will be able to locate where that section in the blog is that I can change the email notifications! I will do that tonight, so just hold tight for today, Aunt Sue and I will figure it out. Like Aunt Kate, I do better when I see the comments throughout the day, but I would be lying if I said they didn't disrupt my work =) I need the push though!

Great job, Aunt Kate on your hard work! don't get discouraged that you haven't lost anymore weight...it's possible that you've lost some in inches, have you tried to re-measure? You're doing so well making good choices and that's what it's all about. When you start thinking about everything you put in your mouth and whether you need it or not, that's how you change your eating habits for life. Think about food as re-fueling your body: Do you think chips will help your body get nutrients or do you think cottage cheese or some nuts will help curb the hunger and provide other good things for you? It really does come down to that...sounds easier than it really is, but once you get into that mindset, you're set!

I did pretty well this weekend. I thought about everything I ate and I made small portions. I did indeed eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on both saturday and sunday and that's a huge thing for me! I made homemade granola bars yesterday for a mid-morning snack and cut up all my veggies for the week and planned our meals. I feel ready to conquer the week ahead!

I like getting the daily e-mails also, but this week I am alone at the office, so may not respond right away -- in addition, sometime my home e-mail doesn't open up at work (like today). Don't give up on me -- I am still trying. Didn't exercise on Friday or Saturday, but got back on the Gazelle sunday night for 1/2 hour. Have been trying to walk farther in the parking lots, etc. Doing better on water as far as liking it -- the colder the better, so if it has some ice, it goes down better and is downright refreshing -- may try the Crystal Light, though. Still between 5 and 7 1/2 lbs lost. Put up new spring curtains and it looks so fresh and clean that I feel like I have more energy looking at it! I will start the post on Tuesdays -- if I can figure it out again!
